On-site shunting services and last mile solutions

Efficient and flexible rail logistics

In a time when efficiency and flexibility are crucial to the success of logistics operations, RSN plays an essential role with its on-site shunting services and last mile solutions.

Our on-site shunting activities and last mile shunting services provide customized solutions for companies such as terminals, chemical plants, and manufacturing facilities to reduce lead times, lower costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

On-site shunting involves sorting and arranging rail cars at our client’s locations, where the cargo is loaded or unloaded. The goal is to enhance the efficiency of the transportation process by reducing lead times and optimizing train compositions right at the site.

For a client in the chemical industry, for example, we manage the logistics within the extensive site, collecting rail cars at the gate and distributing them internally or preparing them for departure.

With last mile shunting, we move rail cars over the final mile of the journey, from the railway network to the final destination of the goods, such as a factory or warehouse. This service is provided when the client’s location is not directly accessible due to various constraints.

For these situations, we have our own diesel locomotives that can be deployed to cover the last stretch of track. This applies, for example, to sugar trains, where we transport the rail cars with our locomotives to the loading and unloading dock. We also offer this service for rail cars or locomotives that need to come to our workshop for maintenance or repairs.

RSN sets itself apart not only with its own locomotives and skilled shunters and drivers but also with our in-house maintenance service and fully equipped workshop and rail yard.

By leveraging our flexibility, knowledge, and expertise in on-site shunting and last mile shunting, our customers can save costs, operate more flexibly, and focus on their core activities.
